The Signtronix Round Up
Louisiana Tigers
Congratulations to RM Lynn Schumacher! Lynn is the proud new RM in Baton Rouge. Roger Pelton said, “Lynn expects the Baton Rouge Region to be in the top ten regions from October thru the end of 2009. He has seven dealers selling right now, and they are off to a good start. He also expects that the Region will be a Top Five Performer in 2010. He is determined, motivated and has the knowledge to back up his goals. I wish Lynn the success he deserves.” Good luck in the debut of Baton Rouge, Lynn!
A big welcome to the new Dealers of the Louisiana Tigers! Walter Frick, Dave Devaney, D C Smith, Richard Carroll, Jason Van Buskirk, Lee Stolf and Mitch Rose are excited about the opportunities ahead and are already making progress toward the top of the charts. Lynn said, “I’ve got a great group, they are all talented and hard working.” Keep up the great work, Tigers!
Buffalo Destroyers
Hot news from the Buffalo Destroyers! RM Mark Woods welcomes new Dealer Arba Tucker! On her first full day in the field, she sold a Model 34 to receive her Icebreaker pin! Congratulations, Arba!
Robert Wheaton made some Destroyer magic when he sold three signs in one day! That’s what we call a hat trick for this talented guy! With his next sale, he will be on senior commission. Great job, Robert! Keep up the good work.
GreatPlains Drifters
The Great Plains Drifters are kicking it into high gear and plan on finishing the last quarter of the year off with a bang. Frank Kessler netted himself over 3300 in commissions, closing on a Model 48 with TWO Tri-Color EMC’s. Not resting on his laurels, Frank has already closed another Model 48 to a Paintball Business.
DM Tim Bailey has sold two contracts recently and is on a mission to complete the Lance P. Sijan Award. Good luck, Tim! Dale Hircock has rejoined his Signtronix family and is back on the road where he shines. He chimed in with an LED-40. He is showing signs of a sleeping giant ready to waken. Ron Sibbel is ready to pick up where he left off after a terrible car accident had him sidelined for over a month. He struck gold placing an 8ft Tri-Color EMC, netting him 1100. RM Larry King is excited about the progress of his talented team and knows the end of the year will be filled with Great Plains Drifter success!
The success continues for the Great Plains Drifters. Larry is proud of his Dealers and knows they won’t quit until they are #1!
SteelCity Eagles
It’s been a busy month for the Eagles. After a visit from RM Buddy Swisshelm, Kerry Batteau was off and running. Dave Scarf and Kerry helped an Equipment Rental Business with a new set of two-line Tri-Colors.
A referral sent Kerry and Steve Johnson to a Papa Murphy’s store for a set of Three Line Tri-Colors. Kerry said, “The great thing about this one is they have 14 other locations and this owner is the decision maker for all of them!”
Then it was another contract for Kerry and Dave Scarf to a Gourmet Cake Store, then back with Steve, it was Salon and Tanning Business.
Kerry and Steve called on a Convenience Store. THREE SETS of digitals and TWO lighted signs later, the owners were SUPER HAPPY and EXCITED about their new signs!
Kerry put it simply when he said, “Hard work and persistence pay off. It is not about the money, although that is a nice fringe benefit. Keeping the customer as your number one priority and your pocket secondary has always been a successful and fruitful way of life for me.”
New Dealer Brian McWhirter celebrated his Icebreaker with a contract to a Mexican Grocery Store. DM Frank Marzullo said, “Brian is a really talented guy and we will be hearing a lot of success stories from him!”
Stacey Elkins from the Signtronix Home Office sent Frank a lead for an Electric Company and, in no time, he was off and driving. After a three-hour drive, Frank wrote up the panel change and then took advantage of being on the road for the day. He didn’t have to look far to find a Hair Salon with an old, outdated sign. A Crystal-lite Model 46 with custom art is going to change the WHOLE face of the business.
Atlantic Cruisers
Atlantic Cruiser RM Gary Hoerlein is excited about his new team of independent Dealers! He was under the weather and only been able to PHONE COACH his new Dealers, Larry Griggs and Steve Deekan. These guys have proven to be great listeners.
Steve turned in two orders for ISLED-60 Combos. Larry did not want to be left out , so he produced paper work for a Model 36 custom Crystal-lite and TWO 3-line Tri-Color EMC’s, and, of course, the pole facade to make it complete! Gary and the Cruisers are looking for great things from these Professional Top Producers!
Arkansas Diamonds
Arkansas Diamond RM Howard Foy is proud of the newest Diamonds Keith Roberts, Pam Buffington, Marcia Conley and Julie Gleghorn. Howard said, “They are professional, smart, hard-working and really catching on fast.”
Julie was the first to get her icebreaker with an ISLED to a Video Store then an ISLED-60 at a Cosmetic Medical Office. Keith Roberts, got his Icebreaker by selling an ISLED-60 to young owners of a Coffee/Java House. Within days, he had his 2nd sale! Keith said, “Howard, I saw a Lube and Oil Business that needed help, so I stopped, built value and closed the sale by assuming it! I just made a little over 1300 by doing it correctly.”
New Dealer Marcia Conley got her Glacier-sized Icebreaker with an 8ft EMC and cashed a check for 1400. Her first full week in the field, she sold three contracts for over 5,000 in her pocket. What will she do next week?
DM Kirnan Lewis is busy helping Howard train new Dealers and in the meantime has placed three contracts. Kirnan sold his first pair of RGB’s while on a road trip in Missouri and pocketed over 6,000. He also placed a Model 58 Money Magnet, Model 38 and two EMC’s at a Real Estate Office. “Kirnan is back on top of his game and we’re so very proud of his accomplishments! The Diamonds wanted to finish the year strong and it appears they are on track to fulfill that goal.
Indiana Timberwolves
Ryan Henry made an unusual call to a Chrome Plating Business. The owner wasn’t interested in attracting more customers, but, instead, was interested in selling advertising space on his new 8ft 4-line Tri-color EMC to surrounding businesses. Nice call, Ryan. He also placed an ISLED-40 to a Tire Shop and an LED-40 to a Flower Shop.
Verlin Miller is committed to not only helping business owners increase their sales, but also helping other dealers become successful. He helps his teammates “stay on target.” He placed an IS-40 at a Hair Salon and an LED-40 at a Tattoo Shop.
“Wild Bill” Childers is determined to set an example for new Dealers. It’s simple to make the calls, follow the program and possess a helping attitude with the customer. Time management is also critical in our business. If that little voice in your head says, “You’re wasting your time”, 98% of the time, you’re doing just that. Trust that little voice and go find another business you can excite. The rest will take care of itself. Bill helped the owner of a Sports Shop with a Model 68 Crown and an Alteration Shop with an LED-60. Bruce Miller helped a Coin Shop and a Book Store with LED-60’s.
California Landsharks
DM Dan Stanley is tearing up the road this month! He truly CARES about his customers and makes lifelong friendships with each business he helps. Dan always shows the customer what he would buy himself if it was his business. The results are incredible sales with big volume. Dan sells everything in our product line and really lets the customer know that they are dealing with the best sign company in the nation! He brags on the caring and attentive Art Department, the Courteous and Professional Customer Service and the Knowledgable and Prompt Technical Department. He is proud to work with Signtronix and appreciates the great people in Sales Support. They quickly call him back with critical information he needs and their understanding of unique situations is incredible. Dan says, “THANK YOU!”
Although, we should be thanking Dan for the hundreds and thousands of dollars in business that he has personally sold in the last few months. The Landshark team is VERY PROUD of DM DAN STANLEY, the King of the SHARKS.
New Dealer Steve Libby is selling and moving up the ladder with four contracts under his belt. His DM, Mark Warneke, another seasoned professional, says he is really getting it. Mark is making his “mark” on the boards too and consistently turning in orders and showing the way.
Shawn Michaels is back from a road trip and turned in 16,000 of business. Shawn is getting closer to Senior dealer status. DM Tim Schomer, the #1 Dealer in August, couldn’t be more proud of this personal recruit.
Dallas/FortWorth Trailblazers
The Trailblazers are right in the middle of their Fall Classic 2009 contest and the sales ‘scores’ are coming in fast and furious. Out of the East, Keith Ives has taken a commanding lead over Tyler Derebery. With three contracts and 18 points in one week, Keith has a commanding lead… but Tyler is one of the Trailblazers capable of pulling out a victory! Also out of the East, is the always-powerful Alan King, who earned three contracts and 15 points by placing a Model 48, Model 412 and a Model 46. He also placed a Model 48 for another three points!
Things are heating up! Look out, Keith! Chris Griffith, out of the West, is on a nice run. While field training, he placed an ISLED-60 Combo for a FIVE point play. Will Welsh continues to have a tremendous road trip. He’s writing orders and scoring points and has his sights on the finals.
Out of the new and exciting Oklahoma City District, two new Dealers broke the ice with Model 48’s. Mike Mayfield and Bill Herron both wrote their first of many orders. The other three new Dealers who finished class; Klint Wieden, Rick Fagan and Joanie Powers are all out in the field making it happen.
In Fort Worth, Nick Trevino also broke the ice with an LED-40! This is definitely the first of many for Nick.

St. Louis RoadWarriors
Everyone banded together for the ‘back to school month’ of September. Back to school in Signtronix means getting back to the basics of what has made us a #1 region. RM Jeff Dean said, “Much of our success is from making our families a priority.”
Ron and Stephanie English doubled up for the month and got Rainee and Grayson back to school just fine. Daughter of the RM’s, Tzofia Keshet broke the ice with her first day in preschool. Leora Tova is taking good care of Shelley and her new baby sister.
Tim McNeal had his hands full with nine kids going in all different directions, complete with home schooling from the amazing Liz McNeal. Their daughter, Elizabeth, is on the Navajo Indian Reservation on a mission. Ron and Maria Gither got a hat trick this month, three kids in three different schools. Josh is a Hoover Buck, Noah is at Deer Valley in kindergarden and Breanna broke the ice in the junior honor society at her school with straight A’s so far.
Don and Wendy Meissner are in a new house with their kids, Gideon and Elanna, who are both in a new school. Thomm Morgan is taking care of his kids, one home on a mission, one in a last year of high school, and also walked for over 24 hours non-stop as part of a charity event he created.
Josh and Tiffany Bollinger are expecting soon and their daughter, Ava, is super excited. Scott Bowman, Jim Kowalczyk, Bob Byrne, Jon McOwen, Mike Benjamin, Gerald Brendel and Seth McNeal are all taking care of grandkids, each other, or grandparents. Thank you, Signtronix for allowing us to place our families so high on the priority lists. It’s all about balance.
All in all, the Road Warriors wrote over 100,000 in Volume during their Back to Basics month.
Carolina Panthers
DM Bill Bennetti leads the Panthers and the whole Southeast in contracts! Bill works with one of his Dealers everyday in the field and it always pays off. He also wrote seven contracts in two weeks in front of new Dealers. Roger Paul picked up a ton in commissions on his way to Ray Clark’s payoff in Florida. Roger has done a wonderful job placing two locations in front of two different new Dealers. He is doing a great job.
Scott Leatherwood placed some great locations when working with a new Dealer as well. Tami Vote broke the ice in her hometown! She went to the City Code Office, got the okay from them and much more. The head city official told her he would give her the names of all new businesses in the city!
RM Paul Shawley said, “I am so proud of Sam Casey! He’s fighting health problems, but still working, even though he does not feel like it. God bless you, Sam! We love you and are keeping you in our prayers. Special thanks to a real trooper, Beth Shawley! She works at home and at the office, and she is a tremendous support to our Dealers. Terrific work, Panthers!
Knoxville Region
New Dealers Brenda and Perry Olivera completed training in Knoxville. They started the week with FIVE lite-ups on Monday, followed with the proper activity on Tuesday and placed a beautiful ISLED-60! This dynamic brother and sister team earned just shy of 1,000 on their Icebreaker.
Without missing a beat, they placed their SECOND and THIRD ISLED-60’s! That’s TWO days, THREE locations and almost 3,000 in commissions!
Brenda and Perry spent a day in the field with RM Connie Johnson and Lee Andrews. In fact, Connie went the extra mile of getting SIX lite-ups and placing a nice LED-60 on, you guessed it, the 6th lite-up of the day. Excellent job of the “Monkey See, Monkey Do” principle, Connie and Lee!
Lee Andrews placed an awesome Model 48 with two 6ft EMC’s. It’s his great attitude and the willingness to assist other Dealers that make Lee a champion!
Amber Cinnamon placed an LED-60. Amber’s positive outlook, professional demeanor, contagious smile and strong work ethic are taking her to the next level. Thanks to Sarah Andrews for the wonderful classroom training and guidance she provides. We couldn’t do it without you, Sarah. Rick Rossetti has been very influencial in getting Knoxville up and running. He has spent numerous hours training and recruiting. His hard work has definitely paid off!
Pocono Mountaineers
Patience is key in our business; RM Denny Giacobe knows that all too well. He had the WORST day of his sales career. During a routine day, a routine 24-call sheet, a routine call, Denny met the owner of an Auto Repair Business who despised ‘salesmen’. Denny was determined to change this guy’s negativity and perception of ‘salesmen’. Although VERY frustrated, Denny stuck with it for two reasons. First, Denny doesn’t give up. Second, the owner NEEDED this sign and Denny knew the business would greatly benefit from it.
Over and over, Denny said to himself, “I don’t need the money this bad. I could just walk out of here right now.” But, he kept at it and wouldn’t give up just because it was hard. The owner knew he needed the sign. Denny knew he needed the sign. So, it went on. It was 10:00am when Denny arrived at the Auto Repair Business, and well into the afternoon when he made it out of there with a completed contract! For trying his patience and surviving, Denny earned 918! Now that is patience and determination! We all have rough days, but take a tip from Denny… “It may be hard, but in the end, it’s worth it.”
Copper State CoolRays
Michael Whalen is now sporting a stylish Icebreaker pin! He sold a Model 36 and an LED-40 to a Pawn Shop. This is only the first of many trips to the bank for Michael.
Tracy Riha placed a Model 58 and said, “There are lots of our signs in the area, it’s like Signtronix Row! Now we have one more sign to add to the row. Not to mention, it was a nice payday as well. Tracy is on an extended road trip and plans to have many more to follow. Way to go, Tracy!
Recently promoted senior Dealer Chris Almonte found a great location. A brand new LED-60 is on its way to Texas! He also placed a double with a Model 46 and TWO 6ft EMC’s in one day. Great job out there, Chris! There is no stopping the Cool Rays.
Tulsa Oilers
Tulsa Oiler RM Richard Houston just completed his SEVENTH SIJAN AWARD! Yes, that means in 23 days, he sold 16 contracts! The journey wouldn’t be complete without some obstacles. Richard actually started his Sijan journey earlier last month, but was knocked out with the flu for over a week. Without a second thought, as soon as he was able, Richard went back to work and started the Sijan over again with great success!
That wasn’t his only obstacle, for we know that any worthwhile destination will have roadblocks. He lost his phone and wallet! After an honest person returned BOTH his wallet and his phone, Richard was back in action. He wrote a contract on Friday, another Saturday and because he wasn’t able to do his two lite-ups on Wednesday, he worked Sunday as well. Wouldn’t you know, with almost all the businesses in this town closed on a Sunday, Richard found ONE open and wrote a contract!
The moral of the story is, DON’T GIVE UP! Richard was determined to accomplish his goal and DIDN’T GIVE UP, even with a lot of obstacles to overcome. For the 23 days of this Sijan journey, Richard sold a little over 80,000 in Volume! This was truly a great tribute to Lance P. Sijan. We can’t wait to hear about your next Sijan journey, Richard.
